About Us

We are Sylvia and Bert Horton, we live in a beautiful small village called Chesterton in Shropshire, we share our lives with five fantastic Leonbergers.

We have been married for over 40 years and dogs have always been a big part of our lives.  We have two sons who are both married, Andrew and Helen have three children Melissa, Andrea and Josh and David and Emma have a daughter Libby.

Our first dog was a Doberman, we then had a Golden Retriever, and then went onto four German Shepherds.

Bert decided we needed a change so we started looking for a breed that we would both be happy with.  We first came across Leonbergers through the Readers Digest book of dogs, so I contacted the Kennel Club who put me onto Jenny Kennish, at that time she was the Club Secretary for The Leonberger Club, she then gave us the contact details for Celia Peters and the rest , as they say is history.

We collected our first Leonberger in February 1996, she was a gorgeous little girl we named Lottie. Sadly we lost our beloved girl in 2006.

Our current Leo's are:

Jenson, Grace, Phoebe, Bo and our newest addition Darby.

We have had five litters since 1996.

Leonbergers are very addictive and one will never be enough, they are a giant breed that are loving, gentle, friendly and happy dogs.

Bert and I have enjoyed showing our dogs over the years, sometimes doing well, but always remembering we take the best dogs home.  We have made some great friends and hopefully many more friends in the future.
